The Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program recognized by the Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board (KSDNEB) in Bangalore is designed to prepare students for a career in nursing and midwifery. Here’s a general overview of the curriculum for the GNM program:

Duration : 4 Years


ELIGIBILITY :
1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 Years on or before 31st Dec. of the Year of admission and maximum 35 Years.
2. Minimum Educational Qualification.
– Senior School Certificate (10+2) with PCB equivalent with a minimum of 45% marks.
3. Candidates should be medically fit.

Internship/Practical Training:

After completing the academic coursework, GNM students typically undergo a period of internship or practical training in various clinical settings such as hospitals, community health centers, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities. During this period, students gain hands-on experience in providing nursing care, administering medications, assisting in procedures, and working as part of interdisciplinary healthcare teams under the supervision of experienced nursing faculty and preceptors.

Assessment and Examinations:

Students in the GNM program are assessed through a combination of internal assessments, practical examinations, and theory examinations conducted by the Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board (KSDNEB).

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the GNM program and passing the examinations conducted by KSDNEB, students are awarded a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery, which qualifies them to practice as registered nurses and midwives in healthcare settings.
